Middle Class

So there we were, the Pirate and I, listening to the test match* on the radio, playing Boggle, and eating strawberries.

When the revolution comes, we are fucked.

*That's cricket, for you football-watching Philistines.

Strip Boggle, I trust.

Um...what's Boggle? Clearly I'm not middle class enough!

You'll be fine. You're American, ergo classless.

A middle-class person would never eat strawberries out of season. Terribly non-U. :-p

I would have thought that you were watching the Penquin on the telly.
What's it doing there anyway?

You don't need a partner to play bridge - even your Mum knows that!

This doesn't surprise me at all; except the strawberries.

As Homer says it's far better to choose seasonal fruit and vegetables although I'm yet to convince N of this too.

Actually.... going off on a tangent.... I don't believe there is a Middle Class any more.

There is an under-class whose primary means comes from the state. A working class of those who must earn (and pay relatively high taxes) to make a living (which I include myself in despite what you know my household income would be). And then an upper class who are financially secure but may choose to work.

TB: blech. my mom plays bridge.

Dave: that's BRILLIANT. i can't believe we never thought of it.

WW: game with 16 little plastic cubes, each with a letter on each side. You shake them up and let them fall into a 4x4 grid. You then have 3 minutes to form as many words as possible from the letters available. Longer words get you more points.

Homer: I don't normally eat strawberries out of season! I feel horribly guilty about it, but they were on offer for a pound a punnet, and they looked really nice. I couldn't help myself. I am weak.

Homo: huh?

Rog: thanks for reminding me!

[][][]: dude, you're name is hard to type. what are those symbols? anyway, i feel bad enough about the strawberries as it is. sheesh. the fact that i feel so guilty about it only reinforces my original statement, though.

It's okay, we play scrabble or cribbage while watching the history channel and drinking fancy shmancy beer. It's not so much middle class as it is cozy...and I agree, the middle class is pretty much gone. We prefer to consider ourselves "no class" :D
And seasonable fruit be damned on occasion, I like an avocado in september every now and then.

But the revolutionaries will need people to tend to their wounds and also mix cocktails, so...
