Bike ride

I wrote this post a few weeks ago and promptly forgot about it. But here are some pretty pictures for you. :-)

Ah, autumn. My favourite season. September is without a doubt my favourite month. The weather in september is lovely all over the planet (except in the southern USA where it's hurricane season. But that doesn't count). I went for (another) long bike ride today, from Bristol to Bath and back. 28 miles round trip. I do this about 4 times a week. Here are some scenes from my most recent ride:

The road goes ever on and on...

Some kind of tree covered in red berries. Anyone out there know what they are? Lovely, aren't they?

the Avon. and Cows.

Ooh, the scary tunnel!

Ah, I love that trip. Somerset is beautiful in the autumn.

Thank you.

I think your tree is a "Hawthorn" - wouldn't try eating the berries though.

Cool tunnel! Where was that? I guess it was on an old railway line?

that was beautiful! british cows seem cleaner than american cows. *forcibly restrains self from making 'cow wash' joke*
*fails*
heres another vote for the hawthorne tree. there should be long, evil needlelike thorns poking out of each wand of berries, and the branches too, but the berries are particularly well guarded. thats because the hawthorne has a bird-dependant life cycle..(rambles on and on about migratory passerines, browse species, the understory, etc.)

hannah: bristol is in somerset? huh. never knew that.

the M: you're welcome. i don't know why you're thaking me, but you're welcome anyway. :-)

the HR: hawthorne? *makes note* and yes, it's an old railway line. lovely ride, no hills.

FN: they are, because English cows get to sit on grass, whereas american cows have only mud. *sobs*

Bristol was in Somerset. Avon is a recent creation as counties go.

Avon was recent, and is no more. It was very short lived. Bristol is now in the county of Bristol. I think technically the Bristol Bath cycle path is either in Somerset or in South Gloucestershire. Who cares really... it is a lovely ride. But a bit long, it gave me a bit of a sore arse last time i tried it.
