Pushin' up the Daisies

Mom and dad had to have the Easer Beagle put down this week. She was almost 15 1/2 years old. Ripe old age. She was diagnosed with Cushing's Disease when she was 8 and given 3 months to live, so we think she did pretty good. She was happy and bouncy and healthy for most of her life, and only really started to slow down a lot in the last 2 years. By last week she was too weak to walk to the back door to go out for a pee.

I'm too bummed to write much about her right now, so I'll just put up some photos.

The Easter Beagle sunning herself amongst the pansies.

Curled up in bed, waiting for mom to wake up so she can go for a walk in the park and check her p-mail.

Looking cute and knowing it, blast her.

The Belly Beagle in her preferred habitat -- dozing on dad's corpulence.

Oh! I loved Daisy. I'm so sorry she's gone. Poor wee bugger. She looks happy as a clam in these pics though, and I'm glad that your folks were there with her. I was worried that she'd snuff it while they were in the UK. This is the stuff I think about as I ride the Tokyo subway - the dog I've never met of people I've never met. Oh well, if it's any consolation at all, I'm thinking of you and your folks. xx.

TB: you sound like you're afflicted with my mom's disease, Can'tTurnYourBrainOffitis. Thanks for the commiserations.

Rimshot: ta

Frobi: thank you.

Herman's Be-yotch: Oh, no! I'm so sorry you had to find out this way! We should phoned you first, but I'm ashamed to say I never thought of it, and obviously no one else did either. I'm so sorry, hon. I know you and Her Beagleness were very fond of one another. (((hugs)))

Aw. Look at those eyes. Thank goodness she had such a loving home and a wonderful life.
15 1/2 is well over one hundred!

We are so lucky to have furry friends. They are unflinching in their loyalty, they make us appreciate the simple pleasure of daily routine experiences, and their enthusiasm is contagious.

I know how tough it is..Jack has been gone for almost 6 years and we still can't bring ourselves to get another puppy..although we came across a young gal who had a Labra-Doodle puppy last week..OMG!!

I know how that sorrow feels.
My sympathy.

if there is a heaven the only people who qualify to go there are dogs. my tater and your daisy are eating cat crap together there, sniffing interesting dead things, drinking out of puddles and snoozing in the perfect sunbeam. i am so sorry, my darling. i'm crying here. bye.

So very sorry to hear it, CB. Even if it's a reasonable time to go, it's never a good time to lose a friend, canine or otherwise.

hugs.

I'm so sorry, CB. I had a similar thing when Bertie Bucket finally fell over last year. I'm sure Her Beagleness had a long, happy life, but that's not much consolation when you realise she'll never lick your toes again.
