Oh sweet Jesus. Whatever we do, we must not, under any circumstances, elect John McCain. He has supported every one of Bush's proposals, and will carry out any legislative or governmental changes enacted by Bush, including this new catastrophe. We cannot allow this to happen.

On a more cheerful note, I am leaving today to visit Pirate and the in-laws for a week, then Pirate and I are going up to the Fringe for a few days. I will still be available on Blogger and email, so I will be in touch with Edinburgh bloggers. Whee! (I don't have time for a vacation, but holy fuck do I need one.)

The most fun I've had in politics for ages was watching the video of Obama saying that 'Republicans take pride in being ignorant'.

I just hope there are enough people in America capable of thinking that one through.

Along the lines of ignorance and the future, you might want to check out a little Luke Wilson gem called "Idiocracy", which is basically all of Richard Dawkins' fears come to life in movie form.... entertaining, but it also leads one to hope fervently that the Republicans don't make it back into office....

We? We? We?

Make your mind up Ceebs. You're either going for British Citizenship - in which case 40 years of political incompetence, idiotic legislation and economic gerrymandering should be your main concern - and America can go hang or you're not. Personally, i think McCain will get in. Like Britain, America has a higher proportion of idiots, bigots and thick reactionaries than intelligent people. Show em the flag, rattle the sabre and go at the towelheads and they'll love ya...
