Halloween

The day began well enough with a light boxing session. I like waking up in the morning and beating the crap out of people. What a great way to start your day. Sooooo much better than coffee!

Then on to rowing: I got soft and got a lift to the boathouse instead of cycling the 11 miles each way like I usually do, and had a light outing in a scull. Only did about 9k owing to recovering from Sunday's disasterous back pain, but on the final leg i hollered to my team mate "Oi! Wanna race back to the pontoon?!" So we did. It was only about 700m, but I kicked her ass and that felt good.

Concluded the day here, with Pirate and good friend, Welsh Cake. I don't think Pirate enjoyed himself very much -- not really his thing apparently -- but the Cake and I had a good time. And hey, there was free ginger cake. What's not to love? So no candy, no dressing up, and no trick-or-treating, but ghost stories by candlelight in a medieval crypt (with ginger cake). Not a bad trade-off, really.

How was your Halloween?

Worked late in order to build up flexitime. Got home after the trick-or-treaters had given up. Luckily no teenaged trick or treaters doing the rounds later - either that, or my habit of closing all curtains and having no visible lights meant they didn't bother.

I'm confused. A member of a skeptic society participating in such non-scientifically verifiable nonsense as tales of ghosts and teapots circling the sun and ceiling cats?

(removes tongue from cheek)

I'm glad you're feeling better! So, during an official race, how far does one go?

llewtrah: party pooper!

rimshot: sure, why not! it's entertaining FICTION. No different from going to a play by Oscar Wilde. I find ghost stories fun because I don't believe a friggin' word of it. If i did i'd be scared shitless, and that's not fun.

the length of a standard race varies considerably. Head races, typically held in the winter on river courses, are generally between 3 and 6 kilometers. Regattas, held in the summer on side-by-side still water courses, are usually 2k.

Broke my record for the number of orgasms delivered to my girlfriend in a four hour period (bad choice of word). Tyneside's silver tongued cavalier rides again.

And she never knew anything about it.

zb: kudos on the first part, but ??? on the second. how did she not know? does your girlf come in her sleep?

HNL: was your porch light on? back home there is a universally understood rule that if you're giving out candy you put your light on. no light = no candy and no one bothers you. does that rule apply here? otherwise, yeah it mighta been the dog. they scare the pants off me. i'm more a beagle person meself. on the plus side, you got to keep all the candy, and that's no bad thing.
